It’s the perfect time to add your name to the NHS Organ Donor Register

Organ Donation Week 2023 is taking place Monday 18 September to Sunday 24 September. If you haven’t already, it’s the perfect time to confirm your support for organ donation by adding your name and decision to the NHS Organ Donor Register. It’s also important that you tell your family and/or close friends about your decision. Families are involved in sensitive discussions about organ and tissue donation.

HTA’s role in organ donation

The HTA is the regulator for human tissue and organs in the UK. We oversee compliance with laws that ensure the quality and safety of organs, tissues and cells used for transplantation. We also publish Codes of Practice that give professionals advice and guidance.
